It's the start of a new year and here is a list of gardening tasks that should be possible given fair some fair weather for the month of January 2026. However as I put together my ideas for the new year I am taking into account the threat of severe weather in the first half of the month with temperatures expected to drop to minus 5C and snow to fall.
Most of January 2025 saw exceptionally cold and very dull weather here in the Midlands literally week after week, and it looks set to continue into February.
This is the month when many of us turn to start gardening as the days really begin to get longer.
I have delayed writing my News, Advice, Tips and Jobs for May 2025 until the last few days of April but theres a lot going on in the garden and with the Malvewrn Spring Flower Show and the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
I will be adding to my News, Advice, Tips and Jobs for June throughout the month with updates so please do visit the pages regularley. Hopefully this is what makes my pages more applicable than printed garden magazines where copies are often written and printed months in advance.
I have delayed writing my News, Advice, Tips and Jobs for July due to the really strange weather tin June and because there are several trade shows in June and I will be adding the news stories and altering my jobs because of the shows.
August sees the school holidays and hopefully the gardens should be coming to their peak in both ornamental displays and the fruit and vegetable harvesting.
What a strange summer, with most of the school holidays in August shrowded in dull cloudy days of below avaerage temperatures, lets hope September brings something better as Covid restrictions ease but daily infections continue to rise.
