Claire Austin Hardy Plants
Impressively honest website with excellent range of hardy plants for sale by mail order, including 250 different types of bearded and 160 herbaceous peonies. Austin's comments are impressive for their blunt honesty; one member of the "somewhat invasive" valerian family is described as "a true thug, especially in damp soils".

Great Dixter
was the family home of gardener and gardening writer Christopher Lloyd – it was the focus of his energy and enthusiasm and fuelled over 40 years of books and articles. Now under the stewardship of the Great Dixter Charitable Trust and Christopher’s friend and head gardener, Fergus Garrett, Great Dixter is an historic house, a garden, a centre of education, and a place of pilgrimage for horticulturists from across the world.

We specialize in unusual woodland plants and plants for shade, by mail order. This includes Erythronium, Epimedium, hardy ferns, hardy geraniums, hellebores (Helleborus), snowdrops, Viola odorata and Hepatica amongst many other shade loving plants.

This magical and very special 20 acre private garden with three lakes is set in a valley tucked away in North Devon only 4 miles from Barnstaple. Created by Dr Jimmy Smart VMH in the late 1950s, the gardens are a wonderful haven in which to relax and enjoy the impressive collections of plants, shrubs and trees and experience the views and peaceful atmosphere.
Merriments Gardens
began life in the late 1980s, when Peggy Weeks along with her son David, daughter Mandy & son-in-law Mark Buchele, bought the site. Originally a market garden growing tomatoes, the growing nursery and retail plant centre started life in 1989. After a sad time with retirements and deaths from Cancer the nursery was sold to local lady Lucy Cross who has set about restoring it to its former glory and more.
