Picking up on the trend for grasses, Melinis Karoo Queen is a Ruby Savanna Grass with fine grey-green leaves. The slender stems produce attractive fluffy heads to sway in the breeze. RRP £3.29 for 30 seeds. Zinnia Mazurkia is an extremely rewarding, long flowering and eye-catching addition to mixed borders and patio containers. 2024 is Fleuroselect’s ‘Year of Salad’ and Johnsons have introduced three lettuces to the organic range in support. Organic Lettuce Salad Bowl Green produces easy crops of loose leaves. A non-hearting variety it is ideal for ‘cut and come again’ harvests. 500 seeds for RRP £2.79. Organic Lettuce Reine des Glaces has attractive and crunchy leaves which are delicious raw, or cooked, with quartered hearts flash-fried in garlic and butter. Organic Lettuce Little Gem Maureen is a compact semi-cos lettuce, selected for garden performance, reliability and mildew resistance. Both packets contain 250 seeds, RRP £2.79.
