Compost Manufacturer closes blaming proposed Peat ban

It said "with the retail peat ban coming in at the end of 2024, the market is no longer the one we got into. We wanted to be a peat-based horticultural producer, but unfortunately we can't do that now."

The company said: "Bathgate are sad to announce that due to the ongoing economic uncertainty, and the implications of the peat ban, they have taken the difficult decision to close down their Horticulture division. This will not affect any of their other companies, and customers will still be able to buy their quality products at very attractive prices for a limited time while they clear stocks."

Bathgate Premium Peat Free

Sad day when you have been working on improving their premium peat free compost, and even more of a blow to my friend Simon Keeble and his colleagues.
